The bubble knit on this is genuinely pretty, not something I expected from a balaclava. The merino is soft against my cheeks and the rib edge keeps it from slipping when I pull my hood up. Zero itch, which is rare for me with wool.
Wore this shoveling for two hours in 20-degree wind and my face stayed completely warm. The merino is genuinely soft, no itch at all, and the rib edge around my face doesn't dig in. The red is a proper true red too, not orangey.
The bubble knit on this is so much prettier in person than I expected, and the merino is genuinely soft against my face. The rib edge sits flat without digging into my cheeks, which was my worry with other wool ones.
