The fleece is so light my daughter forgets she's wearing it, but it still blocks the cold on our morning walk to school. The snug fit stays put under her hood instead of riding up like her old knit one did.
My daughter actually keeps this on for the whole walk to daycare instead of yanking it off like her old hat. The fleece is light enough that she forgets it's there, but her cheeks stayed toasty in single-digit wind. Snug around her little head without squishing her face.
The fleece is way softer than I expected from a polyester hat, and it doesn't make my son's forehead itch like his old one did. Snug enough that it stays put during snowball fights but he can still pull it down over his chin.
